Assalaamualaikum Tun yang dihormati.

How about developing and working smartly rather than hardly?. How about anticipating rather than catching up? The developed nations are somehow deliberating on a u turn. Imagine predicting their direction and work out the short cut to get there, since we are already closer to their new goal. The 'fast runners' have come to realise some of the perils of running too fast and they are now learning to run 'sustainably'. Perhaps after all, its not how fast you can run, but how sustainable you can do it. Why not learn from their mistakes too?

They are beginning to talk about reducing earning work hours as a means of invigorating a more sustainable society. The extra free hours gained, actually do contribute to development in a different way. Now, a lot of money are spent in recuperating from 'running too fast': e.g. work stress related diseases, family breakdown and lots of resources are needed to cope with the damages, bigger need for escapism etc. When people have more time to cater for society's need out of altruism, in the final analysis productivity may greatly enhanced and lower cost of production may be the 'side effect'. I think Tun can see where the argument is going.

I am very interested to see your view on this proposition.

Thank you and wassalam
